Google 'Martin Turner Photography' ... my link is the 4th on the list (martinturnerphotography.com); then read the 5th link ... the BBC News story.

Erm, let me take this opportunity and say that I am not that Martin Turner. I also will add that it does make me wonder about the other one, as they are both Wales? lol! Am sure its probably not, but does make you wonder.

Anyway, going to go with another name me thinks. Its a shame as I really liked 'my name'photography as that is who I am regardless of how boring it may sound. I have just bought longerexposure.com but thinking that may sound cheesy now. Domain names are so hard as you think, 'yesssssss!!! it's free!!!! .. buy, buy, buy!!!!' and then after commiting and the more you say it the cheesier it sounds. I wanted longexposure.com but someone else had taken it much akin to the others I was looking at. longerexposure may well be the one I stick with so don't be too harsh ;)
 
Hahah, how unlucky! I couldn't decide on mine either (gonna take it offline for a bit soon, and attempt to re-design it), so like you I just went with my name, but didn't want photography in the domain.

Could just go with mtphotography, or something similar, if available. Have seen you use mt as your little logo anyway :).

Edit: shame, mtphotography seems to be taken!

M.Turner Photography?
I use C.Jones because there's actually a lot of 'famous' Colin Jones out there. One is a superb photographer who's in his 70s/80s now. Loads of retro street shots. Another is a boxer. C.Jones is the best for me without sounding too cheesy or wanna be.

Long exposure suits you tbh but I'd stick with something more 'you' I think.
 
Haha, how very unfortunate! I have a very unique name, and most of the time it's very irritating (especially on the phone - nobody ever gets my name right.....), but I guess this is one misfortune that I can only bring on myself! :D

Unfortunately with my name being Paul Smith most domain names for me are already taken and if you look at some of the sites which are already registered the shots are not exactly inspiring stuff!

I feel for you though, that really sucks. I've been debating what to "call myself" for a while now, perhaps one day I'll get around to finishing my website. I decided I also prefer 'My Name' Photography as well, so it sucks you now have to think of something else.

If you email google and explain they will most re-index their search engine for you. They have to by law in some cases.
 
Thanks for all the comments; your responses have been very amusing!!

What do you think about longerexposure.com? I have bought it but certainly don't have to use it. At the time I thought it was excellent and also a .com so equally nice and simple. That said, I am not fixed on it so any thoughts appreciated. It only cost a tenner so no big deal.
 
LongerExposure.com certainly fits well with the style of work you do. I personally quite like it.

You just need a bitchin' (did I really just use that word?) logo to go with it!
