So, who hates the new Facebook layout?

100% percent agree.

The new profile layout will take getting used to it but it has its advantages, I think I like it.

Yep - me too. I would still like to see my current status more easily available, however it is definitely an improvement. It gets Facebook ready for their new messaging system, which ironically Fox would probably like as it includes SMS and e-mail in it too if you want.

FB needs to have a separate privacy setting for the "film strip" pictures in profile, as I want to have them visible to everyone, but the photos tagged of me only visible to friends

Huh? I don't understand what you want. Do you mean only available to certain friends? You can do that.

No, I mean I want to be able to chose the 5 photos that appear in the film strip (currently you can hide photos but it will auto add the latest photo tagged of you to the start), and have the privacy settings set for this so that EVERYONE can see it when they view my profile (currently it uses the same privacy as all other photos that are tagged of me)

The rest of the photos that are tagged of me, I want to have set to FRIENDS ONLY - which they currently are via the privacy settings.

So you want to choose five photos which are completely public, then have tagged photos as friends only? Yeahhh, you cannae do that... unless you make tagged photos private, but have profile pictures visible, and shove the five pics in your profile pic album, maybe.

I know that ... which is why I said they need to add that feature!

That and the chain of photos at the top annoys me. Trying to be flickr or something. Humh.

^ not a complaint

Yeah I turned mine off. Still liking the rest of the layout better than before, it's a bit cleaner and easier to use. Shame that they've spent all their time rearranging the placement of things and virtually no time making Facebook chat more reliable. Oh one more thing they need to do, those stupid pictures that show up in your photo album, the ones that are like "Describe me in one word" I hate how one of your friends puts you in one of those and you can't untag it or delete it from your album unless you go and ask that friend if they will untag you from it. It's an absolute pain in the ass and Facebook should be giving people more control over stuff that shows up on their profile.

Slightly off topic, is there an OcUK Facebook thread?

How regularly do you chat to ALL your friends? I'm sure you must have hundreds like most people. You undoubtedly have some that live abroad too?

Isn't it just wonderful to be able to keep in touch with them 24/7 without having to speak to them all individually - but still have the option to ring a friend if he/she wants a private call?

Also, isn't it much easier to share pictures of a night out with everyone involved in one central place?

I don't know why people are so anti facebook. I must admit I find all the apps etc. annoying but since all of my friends are in their mid to late 20s and 30s and 40s that doesn't seem to be too much of an issue! :p

For me it's brought me back in touch with old friends, helped me keep in touch with family and friends around the world - and means if I don't have the time to write several dozen emails to different people I can get everybody together in one point of contact area.

I think it's really a rather useful tool. :)
I agree with this. For work reasons I now live a long way from where I grew up and where I went to university .. and my university friends now live all over the world so it's great to allow me to keep up to date with what they are doing and vice versa.

I block any apps which write to the news feed as I have no interest in them.

I think that in some areas it's considered "cool" to bash Facebook because it's popular ...
