My first purchase tech wise for 2011 will probably be one of these Thinkpad x120e notebooks:

The promo video is hilarious tbh. Obviously the target market for $400 notebook/netbook is international architects :)

Anyway, the performance of the Fusion 350e seems to be a nice compromise. 11.6" screen is nice and small with a reasonable res (for it's size). The best bit is the Lenovo trackpoint! I've had Thinkpads for work for years and I currently rock an Ideapad S10e for travelling and living room browsing. I await third party reviews with interest!

From what I've read these new AMD chips sound good, sounds like they should take over the netbook market v the Atom, personally I've just bought one of the Acer 8371 laptops with the Core 2 Duo CPU so that will do me now but will keep an eye on the new AMD stuff.

400 USD so yeah, somewhat less than £400. I'd hope the x120e is £350 or less tbh ($400 + £258+VAT = £308 + UK price gouging = ???). Lenovo usually price upgrades high, so I'd get the base spec and sort the RAM/storage myself :)

I was very tempted to get one of these, however from what I could tell all the ones announced so far have highly glossy screens. I decided to go for a matte 13.3" Core i3 based laptop instead; seeing that Thinkpad x120e almost makes me think I made the wrong choice.

Indeed. Zacate is quite a bit cheaper to make than an Athlon Neo and GPU southbridge used in the x100. I'm guessing £350 for the base spec and a shade under 400 for the full fat E350 apu. We always get ripped off over US prices...
