So, who's still waiting on some Xmas deliveries?

Don't blame Tesco, blame the muppets at Home Delivery Network who are sitting on it. The whole set-up makes no sense, order it from Direct who then hand it over to HDNL who then either deliver it to you or deliver it back to Tesco who then deliver it on the back of one of the Home Shopping vans. Causes no end of hassle!

The problem isn't the retailer but the couriers. I know somebody who works for a courier and she told me the following.

Since last friday the york depot of a major courier was not accepting any more trunking deliveries in and just turned them around each day unloaded as they had enough back log of parcels to deliver before Christmas.

UPS since Tuesday morning has still been collecting parcels but internally they will not deliver them before Christmas but are neither telling customers or the supplying company this even if the parcels are meant to be next day.

I found this out and actually stopped UPS collecting a parcel I had ordered on Tuesday and used another courier to collect it who delivered it two days later despite I had to pay for that courier and I never got a postage refund from the retailer.

I just wrapped all my presents in last minute style and somehow im missing 2 DVDs... Looks like Ive thrown them out in the recycling rubbish yesterday, still in their packaging.. what a complete douchebag...

an ipod from the bay, apparently posted on the 18th 1st class RM. havent seen it yet, and no contact from seller either. im not sure what im scared more of that its either a scam or that its just stuck in a sorting office. dont really know how to go about it, if anyone could give a bit of advice it would be wonderful.

The last present that I was waiting for didn't arrive, ordered sometime last week from amazon. Big banners all over the show at the checkout saying guaranteed delivery before the 24th of Dec with 1st Class. Oh well! :p

Retailers shouldn't make promises they can't keep. Nor should they confirm dispatch telling me when it's going to arrive then fail to do so. I understand it's Christmas, and that's why I've waited patiently all week.

I paid extra for the delivery. Not that it's any of your business either, but I'd only just got paid. The 18th wasn't when I ordered it, that was when it was supposed to arrive. No, I won't suck it up. It's unacceptable that the item has been sat in a depot for a whole week.

The retailers haven't made any promises they can't keep. If you read the terms of service for delivery there will be an entry for adhverse weather or words to that effect.

Take it on the chin and next year order early to avoid these issues.

Managed to get most of my shopping done by mid-November this year, thankful with the weather that I did now. Everything I've ordered has turned up very promptly, even something from an online dvd shop turned up 2 days after ordering, with free slow post.

Ordered a Sansa Clip+ and a set of Sennheiser CX300II's from the online Jersey dvd store quite a while ago now, still waiting for the Sennheisers.

Weird, I placed that exact order from the same place(I assume) though months ago but they always take a long time to deliver, probably took 4-5 days total.

As for xmas, didn't even start looking for presents till tuesday, ordered, got half my items wednesday, the other lot thursday, then ordered myself a present, Raven 02 case from OCUK and received that on Friday. No idea what all the fuss is about :p
