Soldato
meh! just another waste of oxygen, the money and effort used to prosecute this moron is better spent elsewhere.
he'll get his comeuppance one day.
he'll get his comeuppance one day.
So you think that people should be allowed to say whatever they want, whenever they want, to whoever they want?
Yeah... no.
people should be allowed to say whatever they want, whenever they want, to whoever they want?
I think that's far more reasonable than your attitude which is to shoot people who're offensive.
Absolutely.

Absolutely.
That's very interesting.
So it's fine to harass and abuse people then?![]()
No-one said it's fine, stop trying to put words into our mouths, but it shouldn't be illegal just because some whiney manchild get's all offended.
Whatever happened to adults anyway? The kind of people who're capable of just ignoring things? Did they all die out during Blairs hand-wringing stint?
So as adults we should just ignore anyone who is offensive and let them get on with life as they do?

So you think they should be held accountable on a case by case basis then?
maybe they wont have the french to help them out this time.Unless it's being directly and repeatedly aimed at persons to antagonise them (which arguably the twitter person arrested was doing with his responses towards people), I don't think it's a good idea to have offensive comments punishable in a criminal sense.
I think the test should be that for these comments to be actionable, an action must have been taken for the comments to be aimed directly at a group of persons and should have been intentionally confrontational, with that action taking distinctly more than the amount of effort required for any such offence to be incidental.
That would rule out facebook and twitter comments unless they were, for example, comments posted directly on victims walls or targetted malicious emails etc.
I just don't want to see tax payers money wasted on something so utterly trivial because people can't exercise just a tiny bit of maturity and common sense. Obviously with your fanatical view on the subject you're probably still foaming at the mouth and this is falling on deaf ears, but perhaps when you've calmed down you'll see sense and this for what it is ... a whole pile of nothing.

Where does maturity and common sense come into it? You would expect people with family in the armed forces to find such comments offensive. Instead of attacking the moron making such comments, you're attacking the victims for being offended?![]()
My fanatical view? Foaming at the mouth? I just think the guy is a degenerate waste of oxygen. I'm sure you do as well. I hope so anyway.
I think that if people are going to spout bile like that, then they should be held accountable for what they are saying. It's out of order and I'm disappointed that you and others find it acceptable.
