Amidst Sony's latest announcement of a European delay, a barrage of pessimism has been sweeping gaming quarters. Despite this, many thousands of gamers will be making their way down to stores on the eventual launch date, and not to sell them on auction sites.

What is it about the machine that you feel will offer a superior entertainment experience to other offerings? Which titles are enticing you? What makes it worth the price?

I have little interest in purchasing the console, this thread is merely for satisfying curiosity.

i mentioned this in an earlier post i was happy with ps2 but when the xbox came out and it was better,i got it and enjoyed playing games on both formats
but anything cross format like burnout i got it on xbox
the same will happen with ps3
sega has already said that virtua tennis 3 looks better than 360 and ea's fight night has new game play modes and will utillise the motion senser pads in ps3

Yes but last gen Xbox had a significant power advantage over the PS2.

It's different this time as developers themselves have already stated that there is going to be no difference at all between PS3/360 games.

EDIT: And FN3 on the PS3 has been in development much longer, hence the extra features.

Currently, I personally do not have an interest in a launch PS3, for the reason that there are no launch titles that appeal to me whatsoever, than the price is far too high to go for a system that has no titles I actually want that will be out in the next 6-12 months.

I'd like one, as it's going to be a good, powerful console to have, but without games, it's just a rather expensive paperweight to me, and I'll be happy with my Xbox 360 until there really are some killer games on the PS3 that will warrant a stupidly high price tag.

A warning to any following posters, keep this thread clean, any big blatant fanboy trolling comments will be removed.

ea have stated in an ign interview its not just longer development its also the extra power of the ps3.that alone makes me wait for the ps3.
untill then i've got dead rising to play on

I wouldnt say i am waiting, but i will be ordering one for launch, might even see if i can get a US one, need to figure out what implications it will have in the longer run tho.
I think it will be a great machine, it will have fantastic games will give me a blu ray player, will hook up with my PSP, can't wait to see what SOE have done with the network side of things. Since they should have been allowed to do it fo the PS2.
As said above if there are cross format games, i will pick the one thats been optimised for what system. If its better on the 360 i'll buy that one, if it is better on PS3 it will be that, if its the same on both i would probably be tempted to go for the PS3 version.
I am just a fan of games and gaming systems. I love my 360, its a great piece of kit, although i think the games on it have got a bit stale, after the inital excitment of the console its got a bit dull. Dont flame me its my opinion.
But i will be buying a PS3 and i can't for it to come out. The only one up for debate is the Wii. More and more as time draws close i am hearing journalists and people on podcasts saying yeah its cool, but will it be fun? Most games seem like tech demos and there is only so much fun u can have doing a fishing action or 'opening doors' but i guess we will see.

I only decided to get a 360 a week or so before launch and was very lucky to pick one up on launch day. I'd been an avid PC gamer, but was getting a bit tired playing. I'd also previously owned a PS1 and XBox but both hadn't really been played for a while; tbh I'd become very disillusioned with the XBox.

I was and still am blown away by the sheer variety and quality of fun I've had; it's been vastly above my expectations. I started with Kameo, Condemned and PGR3 and now I've Saints Row, Dead Rising and Enchanted Arms and I'm just as excited.

I had no real allegiance and if the PS3 had been launched first I probably would have had got one of those instead. I've been following it for quite a while and I think it's got the potential to be a great console but as it stands I can't see it offering anything over my 360 at this time.

Also at the end of the day, and really this is all it should come down to, specs aside MS has the exclusives I want to play: Gears of War, Halo 3, Fable 2, Elveon, Blue Dragon, Lost Planet, Dead Rising, Lost Oddyssy, Mass Effect (the Trilogy), Bioshock (System Shock 2's sequel), Two Worlds, PGR4.

Assassin's Creed was one I would have been tempted over for but now that's coming as well I couldn't be happier. As it stands there are no exclusives on the PS3 that tempt me to buy one. I'm sure this will change though :)

Agreed.

I want a PS3 for a few games (MGS, and Final Fantasy mostly, maybe Soul Calibur if its exclusive to the PS3) but I am not desperate for it. I feel a "ohhh new and shiny" feeling at the thought of buying one, but at the same time I would rather be playing gears of war, Halo 3 Lost Planet, Mass Effect and whatever else. (all of which should be released before the PS3 is in Europe, maybe not halo though).

Bottom line is, will I buy a PS3? Yes, eventually when there is enough games I want on it. Will I pay 500 for a console, and a few games that I dont really want to much on launch? No.

I think I might buy a PS3 in 3-4 years when the price has dropped a lot, and if there are any must-have exclusives, and whether or not I need a BR player.

Until then though my 360 offers me everything that I need.

I will eventually get a PS3 but only when the games that I'd want are released.

MGS4, GT5, FFXIII are the only 3 games that I am interest in.

Nothing justifies the high price tag if you haven't got an HDTV or aren't interested in BlueRay movies

I was going to wait it out as at one time I assumed the PS3 and 360 would be similar prices and the PS3 wouldn't be delayed too much (lol) as I wanted F1 '06, MGS4, GT5 etc.

I got a 360 the other week as no 3 games are worth £425 + (£50x3 for the games themselves) when I bought a similarly performing console + game + extra controller for <£300, brand new and can play it now.

My biggest problem will be trying to find the funds to buy in March, what with summer hols being paid for. There's no way I can have £500 odd laying around burning a hole in my pocket. Nope the money I've got for the PS3 is going to get me either the european version of Toshiba's HD-DVD or a Nintendo Wii and a whole heap of games. Now which one?????

I haven't decided whether I'll be getting a PS3 yet. I don't think I could justify spending over £400 on a console, but £350 is realistic (I spent £330 on an Xbox 360 premium plus WiFi adaptor).

Hardware-wise, the combination of WiFi, HDMI and a 60GB HDD out-of-the-box is very interesting. Certainly one of the 360's biggest drawbacks is the tiny HDD and the lack of integrated WiFi.

In terms of games, I'm hoping for a God of War sequel and perhaps something new from the makers of Ico. Something fun along the lines of Guitar Hero would be good too. Also, my PS2 will probably die eventually so it would be good to have something to play my back catalogue on.

There's lots to look forward to, but I'm sure the best games will be new and original games. I bought a PS2 for Metal Gear Solid 2, but new games like Pro Evolution, Grand Theft Auto 3 and God of War were the real big guns that kept me coming back for more.

Is anyone here looking forward to Killzone?

I remember seeing the trailer along time ago and was like 'wow' but after reading loads about it im not really that impressed anymore..

I play consoles for there fun rating, nothing better than getting all your mates over and have some 4 player action, So thats why im gunna get a Wii and save myself about £300 :D

Console choice is mostly decided by the games i want to play. I already have a 360, but will also buy a PS3 for the games and also because it plays Blu-ray discs. The online service also looks very good from what has been said so far.

I will be getting a PS3 but i am lucky enoiugh to be rich and get everything :) but i cant say i am looking forward to getting the PS3 i really dont think it will offer much more then my 360 has been giving me for the last year

And atm no PS£ games really get me going

Oh well back to dead rising :D
