So...you've ordered your Sandy Bridge components. What did you go for?

I spent ages deliberating whether to buy now or wait for a little while longer. Then spent ages looking at various coolers and seemed to keep hitting a brick wall with my Antec 300 case and pretty large side-fan. Also some of them don't have enough comfortable clearance for the RAM I wanted.

In the end I went for this lot:

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor
Asus P8P67 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge)
G.Skill RipJaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C7 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 CPU Cooler

Came in at pretty much bang on £400 after the VAT discount and that's about what I initially wanted to spend. I look forward to re-building my computer tomorrow (with any luck) and saying farewell to my 3.2Ghz Q6600. It has served me well but has outstayed its welcome.

You and me must think alike... we are almost identical apart from the Case and ram LOL

would recommend 1600MHz ram instead of 1333 though

Do not really need it as i5-2500k is a multiplier overclock (in the main). I have some Crucial 8GB (4GB x2) on order which is only 1333mhz stuff which will do the job and apparently the Crucial stuff overclocks rather well anyway.

I don't think 1333 vs. 1600 Mhz will affect real world performance (maybe benchmarks, slightly) or overclockability considering the way SB overclocks. I just went for 1600Mhz because I wanted some C7 RipJaw memory and I could slot it into my expected spending (i.e. £400 or less).

I'm working anyway but have 5 days off starting Wednesday so it doesn't bother me if its a few days late considering I saved like £50 and can't do anything with it all until my day off.

Anyone ordered from OCUK actually been told it has shipped yet?

Yeah mines gone although I will be getting it a bit later then most as I am in Channel Islands and used DPD. I ordered about 10 minutes after Gibbo announced there arrival ie about 13:30
