Socks and stuff!

Soak your new boots in a bucket of water overnight, then go on a 5 mile walk wearing them wet. Afterwards stuff them with balls of newspaper & allow to dry naturally over a few days.

Once they're moulded to the shape of your feet it'll be like wearing slippers.

Yep, was gonna post basically this. Coolmax lining socks FTW.

Used to do Scouts/D of E/worked in a camping shop/etc... trust me :o.
Just to add a +1 to this, I've been through scouts, done ten tors a few times, worked in an outdoor shop too and when I lived in the UK was on Dartmoor every sunday. Coolmax liners + bridgedale socks are great, though for the past year I've been using Alpkit's walking socks with bridgedale coolmax liners and they seem to be just as good. I went on a 20 mile walk a couple weekends ago with new approach shoes and just a pair of the Alpkit socks and got no blisters so they aren't bad at all.

Happy walking :)

edit: just realised this is an old thread, oh well!
