Soft-boiled eggs and soldiers

Ditto 34

Taken to laying them in a pan just covered in water then bring to boil, turn off then let rest for 3 mins in the water, perfect no cracking, hmmmm

TBH I almost called them dippy eggs but was in fear of being ridiculed.

Does this method work time and time again? Excellent if so because I often end up with some runny white (which I don't mind too much tbh it gives you more liquid to dip into) or some yolk hardened, I'll only get it perfect maybe 1 in 5 times.

So literally just put eggs in pan, cover with water, turn on hob, wait till it boils (do you add salt?) then turn it off and wait 3 minutes in the very hot water and they are perfect?

Been looking forward to these since lunchtime. :)

Thanks for the thread desires, really enjoyed my tea tonight. :)

Three soft boiled eggs in a mug, knob of butter, bit of salt and pepper, stick a fork in and much it all up then put it on a toasted doorstop.

Amazing.

Amazing, haven't had these in years. My girlfriend was talking to me about them a week or so back and I did let out a good laugh when she sais "dippy eggs" :D

Ooh! Boiled eggs. Or baldy eggs as my mum calls em.

Sunday mornings wouldn't be the same without my Tefal toast 'n' egg getting a run out. I alternate between boiled eggs and poached eggs with smoked haddock.

Yes maybe 3.5 for a mega size egg, no salt just make sure the water is boiling not just small bubbles but not ferocious.

NO NO NO NO NO, tap round the egg then slide your spoon in then you can scoop out the white, if you're not saving hem for the kids :p

Did you actually stack your soldiers like a poncy restaurant?

Read the thread, that's after the egg is finished. Childhood regression!

And yeah I stacked my soldiers, I also spent 20 minutes straightening out my curly fries tonight too. What of it? :D

Going to eat this again today. Although my ma will be coming back from the shops shortly and could have something interesting for lunch, as such I shall be waiting to see.

You're a grown man, you eat whatever the hell you want! :D

(as long as you break the egg tops after you have scooped out the white, wouldn't want witches using them as boats!!!)

runny eggs for the win.

nothing tastes better than a runny egg yolk. poached, boiled, fried, on bacon, sausages, on its own, with gammon, toast, chips, hollandaise, salted,unsalted.... you get the picture.

nothing childish about enjoying something that was made for you as a child, mention egg and soldiers to a child today and they will ask you for chicken nuggets. embrace you love of hearty healthy food and tell your mum to tuck in too!
