Well maybe not interesting to too many people or relevant, but just done a major upgrade on the Hi-Fi system today.... And not one piece of equipment or hardware has changed !!!...

I run FLAC files off my NAS drive in to Linn Digital Streamer. Now those busy guys up in Glasgow have have been writing new code and software. Not only have they vastly improved the interface on the PC/Laptop or PDA as a control device they have written new firmware for the DAC's inside the DS.

So there was new software for the PDA, New config software, that is used to flash firmware and set system settings and defaults for the PC. Finally new application software to browse and play the music files.

The sound is noticeable better..... Having much more detail, revealing the layers and harmonies in the mix so much more. The sound is also more in the room, and projects forward more, and fills the room, and is less trapped in the speakers.
Bass line are more detailed and textured, with great grip and weight, and no boom... all very tight.
On top of that it all swings along, with great timing and tune ....:-)

The best bit is......... it was all free off their website :-)

Spooky really, bit of new code and some much improves !!
Shame upgrading my Turntable won't be so easy or cheap !! LOL
