Hi,

I'm after some software that will help me keep track of software, equipment, logins passwords ip address etc for 3 offices.

I have been using work to write down all the items ie, the computer its specs, current user, dns name along with what software is on the machine and the license for that software both office license key and windows license key incase they are lost etc.

Also i want to be able to keep track of things like their login and passwords for their broadband, blackberry mobile email accounts, or any other 3rd party software things they may have.

Is there any software out there that will allow me to do this? or is it a case of me having to create a complex database on Access to to the job?

*hopes there is software as he doesnt like access*

Many thanks

Spiceworks will do at least some of what you want. It is quite comprehensive and I think you can add your own details for things it doesn't already automatically detect during a network scan.

Belearc Advisor will give you very comprehensive rundown of software on a machine, but needs to be run on each PC individually as far as I know. It saves the results as a nice .html file though, so it is nicely laid out and you can compile them somewhere for future reference I guess.

Ez-audit is another one, similar to belarc in that it needs to be run one each pc usually at logon, I find spiceworks doesnt pickup everything though.

You can specify several different networks and sub-nets. If you are able to access another site from each network I assume you can configure it to scan there also - a VPN would probably work. I have only used Spiceworks to fiddle, so I don't know its full potential.

We use Assetworks @ work, which is part of the supportworks helpdesk system. Although it can be clunky it will probably do everything that you need it too.
