Evening all

I was sold a pair of counterfeit shoes on eBay (which I know are fakes as they are replacing an older, worn out pair of identical shoes bought from a reputable shop). I pointed this out to the seller who has sent me a returns label and accepted my return request.

I don't really feel like that's the right course of action though as I don't want them being sold off to someone else who won't know any better.

What should I do in this scenario to ensure I can get my money back and throw the shoes away? Should I just send them back?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Return for a refund. Realistically it’s not your job to police ebay. I recently sold a pair of trainers (Adidas Originals) on eBay which the buyer was adamant were fake however, I knew they were real. In the end I allowed them to be returned for a refund and resold on eBay. If the buyer had attempted to keep or destroy them I would’ve pursued it with the police as fraud.

Are you sure they are actually counterfeit? :( the quality seems to be going downhill for a lot of places and/or some places are actually opening authorised new factories that put out far lower quality than their other factories, etc. for instance compare Levi jeans (from an official source) produced in different countries - you'd swear some were fakes even though they've come from an official source :(

As above do it all by the book via ebay otherwise you risk ending up being on the losing side of this.

Seems increasingly a buyers just try this one on anyhow - my mum sells a bit of baby clothes, etc. from time to time and it isn't uncommon the buyer comes back with "fake", etc. LOL but most don't pursue it or bother returning, etc. probably just hoping the seller wants an easy life and will just partial refund to make them go away :(

When I bought some Oakley sunglasses that I knew straight away were fakes, eBay made my send them back at my own expense. Was literally out of pocket for someone trying to sell some knock off sunglasses! Now I'm much more careful when buying branded stuff like that...

OP - did you by any chance narrow down the eBay search to UK sellers only, and yet the item still came from China? I hate it when this happens and I'm finding that it's happening more often now. The eBay terms and conditions should be updated to ban this deceptive practice.

You can leave feedback even on refunded items I think? It doesn't show in normal place so you have to to into the account settings. I remember getting annoyed by certain sellers thinking they can peddle crap with impunity by simply refunding all unhappy buyers and maintaining 100% feedback, but you can still leave it you just have to know where to look.

I had a similar situation with a dodgy diamond trader before, left the feedback that he was selling diamonds with fake certificates and the feedback was gone in a matter of minutes. Ebay will protect the seller if they make them enough money, it's pretty sad.
