I've been looking at getting a car, and theres one that has caught my attention. It's a 53 plate 3 door Focus 1.8L 115bhp TDCi sports thats covered 46,000 miles. its listed at just short of £6,000, which I'm not sure I could justify as this would be my first car, and getting a car 2 years older would result in pretty much the same car but with lower depriciation.

So, do any of you have any advice?

Should I try to haggle down a bit (What price should I be looking for without being rude or conceited?), or should I hold out until an older equivilent of the car comes up?

edit: also has anyone any experience of a tuning box on a TDCi

What sort of difference does it make to performance/fuel economy?

always, always haggle, people sell there cars so they can do it, go in stupid low, then ask what his/her lowest will be then go a bit lower.

But how low should I try to go without being rude. If their asking for 6k and parkers suggests a price of around £5-6k with 10k less miles, should i start at £4.5k and aim for 5k? Or a little less again? Considering he's asking for £6k to begin with, going straight to 4.5k seems a little unrealistic.
