Some apps won't open on Surface 3 Pro running Windows 10

As subject - boss's Surface has recently stopped launching certain apps.

Most work fine but things like Camera or Maps apps appear to flash up a window for a split-second then nothing at all. No amount of reboots cures it.

Anyone have any ideas?

You could try opening the windows store>click the person/head icon next to the search box and check for updates.

Can't even open the Store itself. Getting a 5973 event id in the application log. Googling has thrown up loads of instances of this but none of the solutions apply or work for me.

Upon further investigation we have a load of machines which have been upgraded to Windows 10 and are showing the exact same symptoms.

have you tried running the exe from a command prompt which may leave more diagnostics than the disappearing windows ?
