Hi my friends wanted to build a low cost high power PC and gt these parts:

-AMD Athlon 3000+ Venice with Arctic freezer 64 to OC
-1GB PC3200 Ballistix.
-6600GT 128MB
-Asus A8N-E

I told my friend to wait for me to come back from holiday to put the new parts in as he doesnt know how to, but foolishly didnt wait and put the parts in himself. He installed the Cpu BUT incorrectly without using the latch, and know when switches on PC has no display, I took the CPU out from the motherboard and found all the pins bent and a pin missing. He is going to buy a new CPU but will the motherboard be OK, or will he have to buy a new one?

Any help will be appreciated :)

Motherboard will be totally fine, just the CPU! Its unfortunate that one pin is broken, otherwise you might have been able to straighten up the pins and then install it again. It might work with one pin missing though, try straightening them before buying a new cpu mate! (Considering they're not in a very bad state :))
