Hi All,

I am looking for some help or advise, i am keen to either upgrade the parts in the old pc or buy a few new parts and want to make the right choice.

I currently only play warzone.

My current build in

Inter Core i3 - 3240 3.4ghz-4 Core - Processor Socket 1155
MSI Geforce gtx 960 4gb
1tb wd
asrock extreme4 z77
corsair ms3 ddr3 ram 1333 - 12gb
corsair cx430.

I have been going some research and considering going to amd ryzen 5 3400g due to the fact you can change the chips when upgrading without buying a new motherboard paired with asrock b550m & rx580.

Thanks.

Have you got a budget to go by?

Not sure why you are considering a Ryzen 5 3400G as well as an RX 580. Is there a reason you also need onboard graphics?

After further reading i do not in onboard graphic's.

So i have gona for a amd ryzen 3600 - not sure if i should get a b450 or b550 motherboard.

Not sure which gpu to pair it with.

From what you're considering so far, B450 will be fine with room to improve your processor in future. Admittedly, the B550 offers further 'scope' here for CPU upgrades, as well as wifi, but it really depends on what you're planning on doing with the build in future.

Have you got a budget you're working to? And what is the goal you are trying to achieve?

Whilst a Ryzen 5 3600 paired with an RX 580 would run Warzone, it's bottlenecked by that GPU by about 11.5% at 1080p. Estimated 53fps on medium settings

I'd consider just going for the CPU and motherboard for now, the low-end is long overdue a refresh and the RX 580 is over 3 years old. The 3600 is also way overpriced right now, it used to be more like £150 - £160, now it is £200+ anywhere with stock. The 10400F is arguably a better buy at these prices.
