Some new avatars?

I wasn't suggesting that there was a sinister motive for your request but if there's nothing to try to align the gender of the poster with the gender of the avatar then all you're doing is allowing everyone access to a non-male avatar so effectively we've now got 6 or however many avatars (5 being the norm based on postcount excluding those given by appointment) that don't identify gender. I really just don't see any benefit to it.

Indeed, the question is why bother and the answer seems to be that there's no real point either way except as mentioned some of the female members have said they don't particularly want it or need it. In such a case I'm afraid laziness wins for me and with as with many things changing just because you can doesn't always yield a useful result.

It's not about female members , at least not what I am talking about. One or two new avatars but of female gansters would be interesting imo.

I'm not sure why there has to be some kind of justification for change or it has to have any kind of result tbh, it's not like it could have any negative effect is it?

One of the points is that it could have a negative effect, if female members feel that they are being singled out (more than they may already be) then it could prevent them feeling comfortable posting here. You may also note that of the female members who've posted so far (and mejinks who's a lady :D) none has seemed keen on it being changed.

There needs to be a justification for change because if there isn't one then it's even more unlikely to be implemented and the odds aren't particularly good for this specific change in the first place.

However I've said my bit on this really so debate away, I don't especially want to keep butting in with reasons not to do it.
 
Well, it was just a thought. It seemed to me that if a girl wanted an avatar then only having a choice of overtly male orientated ones was a little unfair.

As no one else seems that bothered, fair enough. I didn't know it had been discussed previous either.

I don't understand why you keep banging on about what the female members think, I've already said that I'm not talking about avatars just for women ,obviously as members their opinion counts but not just because they are female

actually a good thought for those who want to know if the poster is a girl or not, this forum allows them users to put whatever they want (within reason) in their sig and username. if a girl wants you to know shes a girl then she can, avatars aren't the only way. they'll only add confusion and horny guys thinking they may be talking to other girls. it's completely a waste of time and adds nothing more then what we already have. when there was guns as avatars i bet no one complained there wasn't 1 or 2 sword of bow avatars so that it's fair.
 
If girls want people to know they are girls, then they will (and do) say :)

Would be sort of cool with some new avatars, female ones too! Though I don't see much trouble with the ones that are in place now. Signatures are what I recognise people by anyway.

But is there a list anywhere of who all the avatars are? I mean, some are pretty obvious but a few (like the one you get at 100 points) I haven't got a clue... :eek:

Guess there could be issues with personal security, leading to people misrepresenting who they are.
