Some one give me a bell end point

Having issues with getting my neighbours PC working, been swapping parts all evening, ran out of surplus HDD's so said "I know" I'll use one of mine..
I just needed to take some files off it and plonk the data on another one.
Purchased iTunes music, pictures from my digi cam, nurburgring videos etc.
All in all about 40Gbs worth..
Ok I now have a spare HDD I can stick in the neighbours PC and install windows on..

So its half way though a format when I notice the size of the drive is 80Gb..

Hmmm, could have sworn my spare drive was 250Gb.....
Must be just the addressing issue with large drives I thought.
Started to bug me so I booted up my own pc and looked for the drive I had saved everything TO...

AHHH!!
So instead of moving stuff off of the drive I took out I have moved all the stuff I wanted to keep ONTO it, took it out and then formatted it.

That's no issue, I do this a lot, I've recovered hundreds of GBs of data from drives that have corrupted, then been formatted.

Pretty much a 100% success rate of getting the stuff back.

If you wanna add me on MSN, I can give you some one-to-one help with getting all your stuff back, it'll be a fairly quick process I reckon too.

there are several recovery softwares that could get the data. i use getdataback ntfs

I was out til 5am last night, I have only just got up so still a little tender round the edges.

I'm on it now with "Recuva"

May be seeking further assistance if this doesn't work.

File Scavenger is about the best I've used along with GetDataBack NTFS.

Now that's weird!!
Selected it to find music files first and it has found loads... but none of it is mine!
It's found music UNDERNEATH my last install.
So basically it's saying

***.wav found in F:/Docs&Settings/MyBoss :eek:

/music/album - This file has been overwritten with F:/Ring video/ring vid1.avi <<< that's my stuff

There should be a folder F:/iTunes/Amazon mp3 save/(all my purchased music) but it's not found that
