gave it a wash and degreased some of the cack away from under the bonnet. one of the engine pics shows the pretty tidy (for me) plumbing for the catchtank mingled in with the extra pipe work for the butchered airbox.

not much to say really other than its just short of 180bhp, does 33-34mpg average over most tanks and is a right hoot to thrash

well beleive it or not, it took me about 18 months to find it and i was actually after a complete shed so it cost £950. i was after a shed because i was going to change a lot of bits anyway, the only bits i kept were the brakes (pagid fast road pads and cross drilled brakes) 20k miles later they died and i put some brembo discs and EBC yellow pads on.

it owes me just over £2k now, but ive put on eibach springs, gmax dampers, poly bushes everywhere including rear top mounts, some very thorough geometry work etc all make it a very chuckable fun car. its used for daily stuff (even with the omp motorsport exhaust) as well as ritual thrashings when the mood takes me... and it gives me no hassle at all

that was a pic taken on the 'handling circuit' at gti international that made it into VW Driver mag..

and an 'arty' shot lol

Best colour for the Mk3 IMO. These always seem to produce strong power figures on the rollers too.

Blimey, what have you had done to get up to 180bhp on one of those lumps? I was in the midst of melding a 9A bottom end and a KR head to go in a Corrado at one point, but decided against it for the sheer cost for bucks ratio.

Lovely bit of lean on that corner btw, considering it looks like you were fast asleep :D

yup, bar horse power about sums it up, that was on the rollers at Stealth Racing, they are known to be a bit optimistic. i suppose dynos are only really good for comparative purposes, a completely standard 2.0 16v at stealth will usually make 160bhp.

as for the amount of lean, that could be being reduced soon as im currently after either uprated antiroll bars or coilovers... depends what comes up first/cheaper, but its fun at the moment so im not too fussed.

as for a VR6 chin... im quite against that idea because A) everyone with a mk3 gti on the clubgti board has one and B) i dont really do cosmetic stuff i want to keep it looking as normal as possible.

as for the facial expression... the is the expression of pure joy as the result of exquisite ride quality and sheer amount of fun being had :D

just remembered, here is a vid of the same day

Jeez I need a better engine, 90bhp and 25mpg, awesome :(

Seems good though, I always thought the mk3's were rubbish, now I know better.

What's the grey hosing for that runs from the front bumper?

on the current pics, that is the start of a 50mm hose that goes to the back of the airbox. the airbox has a 'warm air intake' that i have no use for so butchered that to take in air from the front.

miles better than a drilled airbox. i have a temp sensor in the box that confirms this lol
