Ok it's been confirmed that the oil seals on my Turbo are pretty much shagged. The car is of course out of the main dealer warranty but I still have a 3 year warranty with the tuners which cover parts effected buy the state of tune. I emailed them today to see what there stance was and they said they doubt they would cover it as its wear and tear and the fact it made it to 40,000 miles is good going. This seems premature to me.

The turbo on the VXR is not hard to change even with little knowledge you could do it in a day and save yourself a fortune. There are quite a few guides online that take you through a step by step.

How bad is it smoking ? My 300bhp astra turbo used to smoke a bit when pushed even with a brand new turbo. Does it smoke at idle..?

It doesn't smoke at idle or when pushed, its only once its been sat running for a few minutes and then you blip the trottle, you'll get a puff of blue smoke out.

I fitted an oil restrictor bolt today to lower the oil pressure in the turbo and it's still doing this. I have now noticed that I'm get a ticking coming from the manifold area. I'm guessing the stud bolts are lose or the gasket has blown. Could this cause smoking? If it's not that then its more than likley going to be valve stem seals which I've been quoted £800 to repair. Not good when the cars for sale.

EDIT: The issue is blue smoke on start up and when you blip the trottle after idling.
