Im thinking about going Sandybridge, but i use constantly 6 HDD's (for youtube recording, editing etc where files are 10's of GB's a pop)

so given the complete lack of actual action on the SB side of things with regards to the sata ports would you say that im effectively screwing myself over if i go SB? and to look at i5 options?

thanks for peps advice, i thought this might be the case.

I don't understand this what do you mean complete lack of action?

a problem was found , yet were still to see any new revision boards that fix it. fair enough if you use 1 or 2 disks but its a big problem that they havent pushed to fix this asap if you use more

Well to be fair they found a problem corrected it and have pushed very hard to get new stock manufactured and into the channel, if anything they are ahead of schedule. I would expect we will see new boards in two weeks or less.

Being asked not to use the other SATA ports is a precaution, very few users have had problems (perhaps a couple on these forums and some on hardocp xtremesystems).

The new boards are due soon just hang tight.

Why not just get a add in sata port card or stick those hard drives in nas

When I get my sandy I only intend on attaching drives to the sata 6 ports sata 3 will be used for optical drives
