Behind you... Naked!
Ok, this one is getting to me.

I have a bundle of video files... AVIs mostly, and yes, legal ones before anyone jumps in here.

Ok, my main PC plays them just fine.
Thats running XP64, playing them with KMP, and I dont have any codec packs and they are flawless and they play them just spanky.

Ok, on my main PC in the LAN room, I also had XP64 on that too, however, when I tried to play a video file, the system would drop to a crawl and I had to reset the PC.
I tried a number of thigns and just today, I gave up and threw Windows 2000 on... fancied a change. and anyway, its doing the same thing???

Ok, so I tried my daughters PC... Its a nice clean install of XP and I threw KMP onto that and this time, it cant play the Audio but the video seems to play fine??? - WTF???

Like I said, with the main PC all the files are perfect, one one PC they kill the poor system and another they dont play Audio ( There is a message that shows up at the start of playing each video file saying the audio wonk go and do I want to D/L the codecs and I have tried but they fail??? )

Anyone know WTF to do?

Ok, changed the PC that hangs to XP32 again, and its playing the videos but, like my daughters DFI, it moans about the Audio?

Its got me... Its got me big-style

So...

I grabbed a blank HD, took it to the DS3 ( This is playing the videos just fine ) and I installed 2K, then XP32 and then back to XP64 and the yall played the videos just fine using KMP, no codecs were needed, as with KMP they have never been needed.

I used the very same CDs to install the stuff onto the upstairs PC and ocne again, they just kept failing?

Ok, differences in the hardware?

The DS3 is Intel obviously, while the others are AMD but I seriously doubt that is why Im having these problems?

ATI... The DS3 is running an ATI card while I have nVIDIA on all *** others... Swapped them over and it made no difference.

Creative Audio... All using creative, so I tried the onboard and then I tried the XFI from the DS3 but again, nothing helped?

Im completely lost???

For some unknown reason ,no matter what I do, NONE of my PCs will playback any video file ( AVI, WMP, DVD - ANYTHING, THEY ALL DO IT ) without the PC trundling to a stop....

It makes no difference what Program I use either...

I have tried KMP, VLC, PowerDVD, Windows Media Player, and WinAmp and they all do exactly the same.

But, like I said, the DS3 plays the files just fine????
