Something awful has happened (need help finding a motherboard)

My socket A motherboard got damaged tonight. One of the six nibs that the CPU fan connects to broke off and the fan came loose when the PC was running.

It's a Socket A Abit At7-Max2 motherboard. Does anyone know if I can still get one, or at least a similar type to replace my current board?

Help much needed. Thank you!!!

:(

Dont panic, you can just buy and old motherboard and swap the heatsink retention piece. i think it just screws on.Just buy a broke motherboard from e*ay.

Hhhmm, the old socket A boards didnt have the mounting bracket like the ones now adays, the clips were actually built onto the socket its self iirc.

i would have thought the abit would have the 4 mounting holes you could use for different heatsink, some don't use the 6 clips but 4 holes, two either side of socket should be easy to see if board has them or not. not sure how many socket a heatsinks are around, have a look for ones that can be mounted that way(loads of thermalright's used to but dunno if you can get socket a ones anymore), maybe hit wanted forum to ask if someone has one.

I have a Gigabyte G-Power Pro heatsink. Does that make a difference? Oh and I think I have those holes - I can see four of them just on the MB right beside the CPU chip. What does this mean?

because when i do a google image search for your board there are 2 variations of it and if your using 4 ram sockets and youve got the one with 4 IDE sockets that makes it harder to find you a replacement, now do you want help or not ?
