Something went wrong, ordered a Mustang, yet ended up in a British hotrod, I blame OcUK!

Hi there

As most know, I really love the SVR, as much as I'd love a GT3 or 570S I simply don't think they'd be as good for me, as in a daily, so instead of essentially selling the SVR and moving into a GT3 or 570S, another option has come up and I need some help with my man maths. :D

The figures are not down yet, but there is an SVR available, less than 100 miles on clock, 17 plate, its identical in specification to mine except it has ceramics, been a 17 plate it also has different headlights (need to check I like these) and it also has updated lighter and cooled seats. Also need to check it has carbon roof, as that could be a killer if its a glass roof on the deal, waiting on dealership to come back to me.

This car is listed at 86k, I am thinking if I can change into this car for no more cost than 10k, that gets me the slightly updated model, 25,000 less miles on a car that is about to be discontinued, am I fooling myself into thinking this is a good idea?

But like I say I am not sure if this other car has carbon roof, it has carbon pack, but no roof pictures, awaiting for dealer to confirm, lack of carbon roof could kill it for me as that makes my car quite unique, though probably not so important to others, many probably prefer glass roof. I think carbon saves around 5kg up top over the regular roof, compared to glass roof, the saving is probably bigger....

IF (note accentuating IF) ), it has all the spec you are wanting, as well as the extra goodies on the newer model, and if you decide you do like the newer style headlights etc.

Then sounds like a no brainer to me.

Newer, younger car, less miles, but with all the bells and whistles of your current one plus extras, what is not to go for ???

How can it not be a good idea ??

Yeah it has the carbon roof, found an advert on auto trader for it, where it is described better, if I've not been too slow, I shall probably go for it unless they really try to give me a stupid offer on mine.

I think I am fair to request 76k for mine and pay them 86k, 10k to change, because end of the day they will advertise mine for 79k I suspect and aim to make profit on that and of course they will be making profit on the 86k car too.

So as long as I've not been too slow, might take a trip up this weekend to check it over, make sure its not a lemon as I always wonder why a 17 plate car which is now like a year or so old seems to have only covered 60 miles, it must have been driven to a warehouse and then forgot about.....

I guess that is how quick blue ones sell, shame they leave things on their site which are no longer available, as its sold, they tried to offer me a white one, I was like if I am swapping it has to be same colour, no other colour will do.

Though I notice they have it listed as EX-Fleet, yet only 61 miles distance covered, so maybe a staff member crashed it, then it took a year to repair, does seem a bit odd.

A little like the orange ones that have been appearing on 65 plates and advertised as pre-production vehicles, which I guess were made to get all necessary approvals and testing, then sat for a couple of years before selling as one had 200 miles and the other 450 miles, they also sold very quickly.

Aww, shame.

Not too fussed, 10k in still in my pocket and of course the biggest worry with changing is, mine is a good one, a bloody fast one, be gutted to change and it all of a sudden runs like 11.5's instead of 11.1-11.2's. :D

I shall keep my eyes open as I am pretty much decided now on stick with SVR for forseeable future and as I feel if anything they will soon begin holding value which they are already doing so maybe appreciating it makes sense if I can grab one in blue, with carbon packs with very low miles, would be a good purchase for future values.

I simply find it impossible to find an all round better car really between 85-125k. Trust me I've been looking at GT3's, 570S and Vantage S V12 and they can all beat the SVR in some ways, but fall massively behind in others and I can't afford to have both.

My driveway already has 100k of cars on it and in a way I do have a great 100k garage, 4 pot, 6 pot, 8 pot, FWD, RWD and AWD.

Attracting you in with something they haven't got, then offering to sell you the car they do have. Standard dealer practise. If you're happy with the car, just enjoy it.

So could not refuse this as the price was too good, grabbed a set of the alternative SVR forged wheels:

I am gonna wrap these with the Jaguar specific Michelin Cup 2 tyres:

Shall be fitting these for dry track days and summer months. :)
Good to see Jaguar now approving Michelin Cups as well, my guess that is due to the Project 8?

Put the car on Litchfields dyno today, very happy with the result. :)

SVRdyno.jpg

Shows pretty much what I feel on the road, this car has instant acceleration and pulls hard from as low as 1000rpm and that pull is maintained all the way to 6500rpm in a linear fashion. :)

Harry just dyno his Project 8 at Litchfields, incredible how the results are pretty much identical, though surprisingly I do have quite a lot more torque than his achieved.

Judging by my slightly improved quarter mile times since the cone filters I'd put my finger in the air and say they have probably given me another 6-7HP. :)

Am keeping the other set also, shall throw some Michelin cups on those I think for track days and Pod days along with hot summer days. :)
