Sony 40HX853 or something else?

My dad's looking a new tv for the lounge and was just wanting to see if anyone had any thoughts on whether this would be a good choice or if there's anything better out there?

I think he can get it for £999 with a free blue ray player and 2 / 3 pairs of glasses just for a price range idea?

If it's not in direct sunlight, or in front of a Window you can't go wrong with the following for under £1000

The TV has to go into a alcove sorta thing in the wall so 40'' is the largest that will go in.

Are any of the smaller pannasonic tv's any good?

TBH the Sony 853 is an awesome set, just go with that. Ive got the 55" model, your dad wont be disappointed with it.
