Sony Announce 24MP, 6.3fps, 35mm Sensor

Probably the A900 (presumed designation) that has previously been previewed.
If the A900 isn't FF then it would mean that there is another body to come & that would mean Sony launching 6 new DSLR bodies inside a year instead of 5 - either is a pretty significant statement of intent.

Pentax also use some Sony sensors so I wonder if they'll also make an FF body using this?

The two new pentaxes just launched use new Samsung sensors. Pentax and Samsung have been linked for a while. Also afaik all Pentax lenses are for aps sensors.

But the new bodies from Sony certainly looka firm statement of intent and the a700 seems to be getting good feedback. If they sort their lens cost out and expand it they certainly have the money to be a serious player.

Yes, the 2 latest Pentax DSLRs use a Samsung sensor (before that it has always been Sony) but no, Pentax have a few FF lens left in the line-up plus iirc they have mentioned FF on the very odd occasion.
& of course as they soon will become part of the Hoya Tokina Kenko setup they will have easy access to other FF lens designs if need be even as an interim measure.

Aye guess so, well if it's cheaper than a 5D then Canon will have to drop prices...good news then!

Lol, I highly highly doubt it will be cheaper than a 5D.

Well considering the only competition (judging by the body style, prosumer than professional) it would look like it's aimed at the 5D market than anything else. Also considering the price of the current Alpha range it should not be hard to be cheaper than the 5D !

If it costs more then who is going to buy it? think about it, A Sony dslr with a limited number of lenses - what kind of market would they be targeting with a higher price point for a camera not yet established? people will just get the 5D with a superior selection of Canon lenses.
