Hey guys,

Any one know much about the Sony Ericsson K800i, I have read through a few posts and reviews, but I'm here nor there. Generally is it any good, or is there something better? It's been recommended to be as an all round good phone.

Also, cannot decide between PAYG or Contract - any suggestions?

Nobody can answer your second question on what kind of contract/PAYG deal you should be looking at except yourself.
You need to decide how much you are going to use the phone - then if it is anything less than £20 - £25 worth of "Top-Up" each month you're probably best off on PAYG.
After that you need to decide if the included minutes/texts with a contract will be enough.

As for the K800i - I don't think I've actually read a bad review on it.
The camera is second to none and it's the usual pretty high build standard from SE.

I have this phone and I think it's excellent. The camera takes good pictures.

The only complaint I have with it, are that the buttons are slightly too close to each other. Sometimes I press 2 at the same time by mistake. But it's not the biggest fault in the world.

Pros

* A 3.2 megapixel Cyber-shot™ camera with autofocus
* Xenon flash
* Integrated image blogging support
* Memory card slot with hot swap functionality
* 3G support with video calls
* Great MP3 player
* FM radio with RDS
* Infrared port
* Bluetooth stereo support (A2DP)
* Multi-tasking support

Cons

* A bit oversized
* Somewhat uncomfortable keypad design
* No EDGE or Wi-Fi support (K790 has EDGE, but no 3G)
* Records video in ancient QCIF (176 x 144 pixels) resolution only
* Memory Stick Micro™ (M2™) card type is still very new and unpopular

... :/

Every Sony Ericsson phone i've ever had has begun to fall to pieces (quite literally) after a years use.

K800i seems ok at the moment, but i've only had it 3 months, so i'd be damn annoyed if it was in the state my K750i was in already :p

I have the phone along with an MDA Vario II, Samsung D900 & Nokia 6230i, all for various uses. I find myself using the D900 more for everyday use than the K800i.

In summary forgetting the Vario II as that is purely for PDA & Web usage. The K800i is a great phone but slightly too big for slipping in the pocket purely because IMHO of the slide cover over the Camera Lenses it is a pain in the rear, keeps coming open and it appears to be the part that will break the easiest with time.

Other than that the phone is superb, great screen, all the bells & whistles plus a very good snap shot camera with the Xenon flash, plus it's 3G so I can swap the Sim Card out of my Vario II and use in the K800i.

Benefits over the D900 for my usage is the Voice Dialing, 3G & Xenon Flash the D900's Camera whilst good in daylight is useless in the dark.

How much are you topping up per month? If your topping up between £15-£25 per month then a contract will be a better option.

Want some advice, feel free to ask :)
