sony kdl40w4000lcd tv as monitor

I play maily flight sims and FPS, i love the immersion caused by the size of the screen but wonder if i would get a sharper picture plus better frames with a standard pc monitor or is there not much difference?

I have to adjust the desktop size because some of the items go off page but games i can play at 1920x1080.
