Sony str-dh500 & 800 how good?

How good are the Sony str-dh500 sony str-dh800? I'm a complete noob and they look like great value. I mainly want Surround sound for a feeling of immersion within my PS3 and 360 games. I'll also be watching HD-DVDs and BluRay movies. I may start out with just two speakers and upgrade over time so the I'm not spending a fortune in one go. I think I'll be able get better speakers this way too.

Anyway I got the 500 two Eltax 180 watt floor standing speakers and a Cambridge Optical cable to connect my PS3 to it all.

Total Cost £229.99 new Bargain

Glad to hear you got sorted with something. I've been looking at the Sony str-dh800 a lot recently, but I can't afford it right now. How is the new setup doing?

I set it all up in no time. Seems good so far. I live in a apartment so I've not push the volume past 20%.
