Does anyone have experience with a Sony Xperia 5? My GFs previous Xperia (I think it was a ZX) died and I bought her the Xperia 5 as a replacement. I'm a bit confused as it doesn't seem to be a standard charger with it. I think it's something called USB-C PD (based on USB3.1 standard).

Does this mean it can't be plugged into a standard port in a pc for example? Or it can't be used with any other charger plugs/sockets? I couldn't really find much info about it on the Sony site.

That's what I would have thought but the only cable that seems to charge the phone is the one it came with and it looks slightly different to a normal USB-C.

GSMArena lists the Xperia 5 has same USB C port type as my old S10+. I've never had any issue using any generic USB charger or USB port to charge it.

But looking up the device and charger, you should have no issue using a standard USB PD 3.0 charger. If you search for any 18W PD3 charger there are plenty options.

I previously had a UGreen brand charger from Amazon, however it only seemed to last a couple months and died. They ended up giving me a refund and I have since been using a "Tronsmart" charger and had no issues. Just need to have a decent compatible USB C cable.
