It's clear he dies because he was talking with Bobby on the boat and they were discussing what death feels like, they said u dont feel anything and just see black from what i remember.

When it goes black at the ending it is so obvious he dies imo.

People are looking into it way too deeply, I think it's a fitting albeit kind of crappy ending.

There was no way to end it and please everyone, so they decided to upset everyone instead.

Sorry for the bump, rather than start a new thread I thought I would add it here. I have just crashed through all six series in about 6 weeks or so. I watched it because everyone always says this or Breaking bad for best TV show ever. (I haven't watched Breaking Bad yet).

To be honest, I liked it or a good portion of it but I don't get why people say it's genius. The ending I have no real issue with, by the end I didn't care about Tony either way so the end was just meh. If there was a gunman I hoped he wiped out the lot of them! I just want to know what I have missed as to why people think this is so good. I think this is the first show I have thought binge watching isn't the way, it just seemed so repetitive. Plus I didn't like most of the characters that didn't die.

Tony was well acted but I couldn't warm to him as a lead, the best bit was when he got a kicking. The first series I couldn't stand Meadow, every series on Tony's whinging wife boiled my ****. Chris was just so unbelievable. I couldn't take him seriously. I couldn't make my mind up if Silvio was a joke I was missing? He was like a simpsons mafia joke. Paulie was a terrible actor.

I struggled with the first series and thought the last was one of the least enjoyable. Junior was my favourite of all of them. Tony's mother too was at least remotely interesting.

So what makes this genius?
