Sore on Dogs Back.

it is probably mites, they harbour near the tail and ears and can cause discomfort - front line doesnt really deal with it.

My dog gets it sometimes and I have found a powder called Thornit (google it) helps to control ear mites (which are the same) and it directs you to put on ears, base of tail and around paws.

Apart from going the vets to be sure, hibiscrub will ease the itching and sterilise it.
We use it on one of our Shepherds that gets dry skin, works wonders.

I don't understand how people are thinking about flying?

"Sore" and "soar" are two different things and it's impossible to confuse the two in writing. :p

If he is knawing at it making it worse then you need to get one of those collars that look like lampshades. I used one on Frank & called him Frankshade the whole time he wore it. :D

Hope he gets better soon. :)

I originally had typed "Soar" in the title, a mod was nice enough to sneak a quick change in. This is general discussion and quite a lot of the people here are either stupid or trolls.

No i want you to take your poor dog to the vet, as stated before :(

I would do, but it's a little bit tricky without transport or money :/ I keep pestering her and that is about as much as I can do.

EDIT: I will take all the advise here and keep him cleaned and apply the treatment we have bought. If it hasn't gotten any better by tomorrow then she won't be able to deny taking it.

Could be wet dermatitis?

One of our golden retrievers used to get that a lot, he would nibble and scratch at it all the time. Vet told us to clip/shave the area and stop them itching at it. Sudocrem might help, we used that before.

Seems to have gotten even better today and he has been removed from the house as my sister and her boyfriend decided they wanted him for the weekend.

Here is a snap of him wondering what to do about their new house mate.

I've told them to keep an eye on him and also not to let him in any water when they walk him.

My GSD has something similar, we've just put some Frontline on her.

What else did you use to clear it up totally? :)

It hasn't cleared up totally, it appears to have dried out and scabbed over. We just cleaned it with warm salty water and used an antibacterial powder from the pet shop. Seems to have done a good job and has stopped him nibbling at it. We also cut the fur around it too which could have helped with getting air to it and stopping it being so itchy.
