Hi guys,

Am after a good quality set for the living room. Size wise is 42-44" max.

In terms of price I don't want the best but don't want the cheapest piece of rubbish with colours and IQ to make your eyes bleed either :p

Ideally looking for a decent/high end LED or an OLED. OLED would be ideal but I don't know what the prices come in at for this size.

I am not fussed about 4k. It's a nice to have but not a necessity. But it must be a Full HD 1080p :)

So, what have you? :)

Chars!

Smallest oled is 55 inch iirc.

Also you need to set a price. Up to 42 inch can range from £200 to £1400.

I have the 43uh750v its a 4k ips panel with hdr. Albeit an 8 bit panel. I think there is one 10 bit panel which is below 50" and its a 40" 9 series samsung for £1400 so choice is limited and expensive if you want 10 bit at that size

I thought I had seen smaller OLED's? ah well never mind then.

Budget wise - £500 max? Although If people can recommend models I'm happy to hunt for a 2nd hand one. So RRP can be higher if 2nd hand it goes for less etc.

I don't know much about HDR, so the different bits doesn't mean much to me?

Cheers for the recommendation. :)

I've been doing some reading up on LED tech, different kinds of lighting, whats good, whats bad etc...also lovely local dimming tech. Through this, and some research I'm slowly narrowing things down.

So far I've got it down to these.

The LG at the top is the clear winner in terms of performance, PQ and specs. But it's also the most expensive, I'm not sure if SWMBO would want to spend that much. I'm going to try the 'future proofing' argument because it's a valid one.

If not, it'll possibly be one of the others. The Philips looks like a cracking set for the money.

Do phillips make their own panels? I thought their tv division is now owned by some cheapo company who use the brand name and fill it with the cheapest parts available.

Do your research on avforums and hdtvtest

Not sure but looking at reviews it seems that although it's a basic set it delivers a great picture! Will try to see one in person.
