as i said sorry to do this to you guys, but pretty clueless about what would get me a good car for the money above.

want something that is quite quick.

doesnt matter about MPG as i dont do that many miles.

has to be smalish.

open to all advice:)

Or if you want something maybe a little less powerful than the Clio or Civic you could go for a Fiesta ST.

How will insurance effect you, the Clio and Civic are both group 16 i think.

Mint Integra DC2 with low miles. You'll never forget owning it. Either that or a 182, CTR, LCR, FVRS, MCS etc etc, the list goes on and on.

But for sheer magic and driving pleasure, nothing touches the DC2 IMHO.

Good call. You can get a mint 98/99 UK model for ~5k these days. Awesome, awesome cars.

Test drive a 182 though, the smoother ride may suit your driving style better than the Teg.

10 year old Honda? No thanks, not for £9k. Integras are scene taxed and are not currently worth the money. Excellent cars but £9k for a 10 year old Honda is rubbish, becuase underneath the amazing chassis it's still a 10 year old Honda.

2001 DC2's aren't 10 years old:)

Pretty sure he wasn't suggesting spending 9k on one anyway, 5k is plenty from what i've seen.

10k on the finest FWD car ever, not a bad way to spend your money tbh.

Is 10 Focus RS money yet? 10k can buy you a lot of interesting metal tbh.

But when you are not on your favourite back road, ie you are just sitting in traffic, it's simply a 1998 Honda. Bland, dull, old. Now thats fine for a few grand, and it doesnt even matter when you've got your foot down but all other times thats really not great for £10k.

Surely £9k is almost DC5 money which further proves my point - if your budget is in this league you can settle for more.

2001 DC2's are the exception though I thought most were 98's?

Yeah most common ones are 98/99 at 5-7k but I've seen Y/51's for nearer the OP's budget.

A new Clio wouldn't be more reliable than a properly serviced 10 year old Honda anyway.

9k for a DC5 would be pushing it.

9K for a DC5 will buy you a shed. I should know, I own a DC5 and I know the market very well. Plus I'd imagine insurance would be a factor and the DC5 isn't cheap to insure!

Dont get me wrong I think the Type R is great but suggesting one to someone with a £9k budget is like me trying to convince somebody with £20k to spend to buy an E39 5 Series - it's daft.
