Afternoon guys,

Quick question, im unsure which option to go for out of these two?

Xonar Essence STX/ST & PC 360

Or

Xonar Xense Sound Card + Sennheiser PC 350 Xense Edition

I already have a few sets of Hi-Fi headphones (before its suggested) but like the idea of an all in one headset, better than the Medusa 5.1 im using ATM.

P.S sey up will be used 100% for gaming as I have a complete other setup for music.

Cheers!

Well, I am ordering the Beyer DT770 80Ohms for gaming, since I need a closed back solution and I can't use a mic.

Anyways, onto your troubles:

If you're looking for open, the best cans are: K701/2, AD700, HD598 and HD555/PC360. It's up to you. I'd recommend the PC 360. I can't use it at home, unfortunately or I'd already have HD598, K701, AD700 or the PC360.

I think the PC360 is modeled after the HD555 - Or is a direct port of it with a mic attached. So I'm guessing the only can to better it would be the HD598.

Btw, I've never used the DT770 for gaming, just for music, I sold them ages ago and got a pair of Shure SRH840s. A move which I've regretted. The Shure's do a great job of picking up minute details, but the positions are a bit off.. It's hard to judge distance with them, I can pretty much tell where enemies and/or gunshots are, but not how far away :(

For instance, yesterday, in CS:S on de_dust2, I heard smoke grenades hitting the ground.. And to my right was a brick wall. It sounded like the grenade landed 3 inches from my ear but no one was home! Gah!

I really wish I held onto both pairs :/

Alas, the Shure's are my dedicated office/music pair. Gonna make the DT770s my dedicated gaming/music pair.

Well, I use grado sr325i's for music, and was considering AD700's for gaming, but I really want to stick to all in one headsets.

If I hadnt just had to fork out for new graphics cards, I would be getting mmx 300's..But the Mrs would kill me!

I have the 350's coupled with a £20 xonar dg card. Found them to be an excellent combination for gaming so far.

I just got Auzentech Forte recently with pc-360 headset and they are a great combo not had any issues at all.

Only thing is Auzentech soundcards can be hard to get.
