Sound Card - EMI shielding + new GPU = angry cats?

glad you cracked it,just goes to show how poorly insulated some components are

should have seen the response i had from asus on the matter xD

If you use another slot, can the card work normally?
I suggest you to take the motherboard out of case and only keep the necessary components onboard. Then plug your card into the slot for a test.
If no effort, maybe you could update to the latest drivers for the card from the manufacturer's website.
If it is not helpful, please clean the goldfingers of the card by a rubber and plug again.
Please make sure the card is really plugged into and try more times.
If it still exists, please erase the cmos to load default settings and try again.

clean the pci-e pins..... with a rubber?... what? :p

i pretty much did everything except take the mobo out... but that would be such a pain with the h80 mounted and all the cables being managed with zip ties xD

but yea... must have just been poor shielding/filters

thanks dude :) yea was a big relief not to hear that interference :D

so on your unified drivers you have the impedance options? on the unified control panel?

think you could get a shot of where the option is? i may just be blind :P

also can you remember what install settings you used? dunno but might be a factor?

It's the same as with the Asus. No difference in appearance. Did you install the C-Media CP? Could be that, if the CP you are using looks different. I chose low latency I think. There are more options when installing the latest Unified drivers than there used to be.

I got asked to dip a USB plug into a cup of water my someone from Microsoft :\ Apparently it was to discharge any static or other electrical build up in the Sidewinder I had.

It actually worked ;p

hummm yea that's probably it as i did install the c-panel with GX disabled.

i'll try the low latency instal tonight. :) although it's low just because it doesn't start the asus cp

On low DPC Latency driver, starting Asus Xonar Audio Center is done by launching UNi Xonar Audio Center from Start Menu-> Programs or from Control Panel . This will cause an increase in DPC latency (just like the normal driver) which will be resolved with a system restart.

suppose i only need to load it up once. do all the settings, then reboot and never open it again right? :p so that way it will stay with the low latency options? ...atleast that's how i see it.

ok so reinstalled the unified drivers in low latency mode... quick question... is there still supposed to be the zonar tray icon at the bottom? i mean i needed to open it to change the settings to bring the headset to "life" as it were.

but it was there on boot.... thought the low latency setting wasn't supposed to boot it up at start? or is it only doing the icon and not the software????

edit: possibly disable the asus xonar center at startup? or think i need it to have all the audio settings applied?
