soundcard?

at the moment i'm using the onboard sound from my ASRock extreme 3 990fx.

I have a logitech 5.1 surround sound system plugged in now sure on the model but only using 2.1.

Would adding a dedicated sound card like this make a big improvement?

Not worth it IMO, especially if you are only using them as 2.1. That isn't to say you shouldn't get one, just the D2/X is overkill as it likely costs more than the speakers, unless you have Z5500's.

If you are only using them as 2.1, you'd be better off spending that money on better 2.1 speakers. Sound cards can only do so much. Better speakers will have a larger improvement than any sound card with the speakers you currently have.
