Spanish Football 2011-2012

Saw a stat today, 9 reds and 66 yellows in the 9 el classico's since Jose joined Real.

So we're definitely due a red card, and a crapload of yellows, considering that was just the first leg and the second leg tends to be more feisty, I can't ruddy wait.

I think to not miss any key action that you often do if trying to watch two games(or 6 some badly timed saturdays :p ) recording is the way to go.

Mourinho in press conferences today was apparently a bit arsey with half the questions, mostly to do with him leaving and supposed rifts between him and the players, and him pointing out Real's record first half to the season(more wins than ever before I think) and being CL seeded(big whoop). I can see it swinging either way, he actually goes for the win by attacking like crazy to prove himself, or going the other way and telling his players to basically attack the Barca players, either would be entertaining as hell.

DM Psycho Sonny has already been preaching this crap aout Busquets being thee best CDM in the history of the sport in the fifa forum, Hes probably worse than you for arguing so dont respond or this will go on for ever! :D

I have to ask actually:

a) Why is he debating how good players are in real life in a FIFA thread?

b) Why has he brought it into this thread when no-one had even really mentioned Busquets before him?

That video is so pathetic btw half the stuff they highlight is just lol worthy, The very first footage of him turning around literally made me spit my tea out because the video creator made out like he just scored a goal from his own half when in reality he just turned around fast... wow

Yeah, its funny though, that is something fairly basic that any(usually non English) football academy tries to teach players, drag the ball and turn out of trouble. Fabregas is THE master of it and was doing it at 16 for Arsenal, Wilshire is great at it, the entire Barca squad is good at it, Tiote is good at it..... the only players who generally always seem to suck at it is English players with a few key exceptions, Wilshire, Lampard, Parker.

I believe that Busquets is bang average and I believe there are plenty of people only rate him because he plays for Barca. That has nothing to do with whether my opinion on Lucas is bias or not because my opinion on Busquets has no relation to my opinion on Lucas. See, it wouldn't be ironic. If you're still struggling to understand then maybe ask somebody to read the post out to you a few times.

I'd say that's all fairly obvious, a similar example would be should I say Pique is crap. My thinking he's crap has nothing to do with my thinking that lets say Vidic is good. Why would anyone form an opinion on one player based on how they compare with another? If you did that then your opinion would be that 90% of the players in the world would be rubbish because they're not Messi.

However....

Should I create a direct comparison between the two listing all of Pique's perceived faults with all of Vidic's perceived strengths and then say at the same time people only rate Pique because he plays for Barcelona I create the irony that is that I'm in no position to level that accusation at them when it's a Man Utd player I'm talking up

It's surely not that hard to understand.

Lampard?! The Costa Concordia was quicker on the turn (and weighed less).

You'll find that, he's both not fat and isn't that slow. The point is you don't have to be fast to turn away from danger. English players just seem to be taught, foot on ball, control, look up, if there is a player close hold them off try and run around them or, you know pass back to the keeper.

The better foreign countries in terms of training have players using a single touch to simply change direction of the ball in the direction they are already turning and run off in that direction straight away, one fluid move, instant and easy. The trick of course is knowing where your opponent is and turning the correct way, otherwise you run directly into someone and look an idiot.

The very reason Lampard has been so good despite really any speed(and Parker, and Wilshire isn't very fast either....... nor Xavi, nor Fabregas, not Tiote ;) ) is how efficient they are in moving past and around people not by running past them, but getting around them with better first touches and knowing where the other guy is at all times.

**** me :o

How can my point about Busquets be ironic when it's completely independent to any opinion I have on Lucas or any other Liverpool player? By your thinking, anybody that doesn't support Barca can't have that opinion without being ironic.

What I said about believing a lot of people overrate Busquets because of who he plays for, I've said many times before about other players too. Puyol and Valdes are two more.

They've actually done well against Barca when really going for it. The problem is they waste stupidly good chances to score or get the early lead but can't improve on it, tire, start playing defensively and then get beaten. Happened several times. When they play v. defensively is when they get beaten the worst because it's not something they do in the league against any other team.

Case in point - Higauin should have made this 0-1 already but messed it up.
