Hello, once again I find myself out of touch with the latest 'stuff'.

I have a friend who is constantly complaining that he can't play COD4 because his pc sucks.

Im looking for a spec for a gaming rig around the £400 mark, doesn't have to be spectacular but COD4 on low/medium at a decent FPS will be perfect. Not going to be needing a monitor, for now.

No idea where to start so thers nothing to work on i'm afraid :(

Thanks in advance, Jaffa_Cake.

here you go it will even run crysis and its under £400

On that i would ditcht the 2GB of RAN and get 4GB.
And for the same price you can get thr Antec 300 and the Corsair 450 VX
And even to stretch the budget to fit in a arctic freezer 7 to overclock to 3GHz easy.

Yeah go for the antec 300 case and save £50. With that you can get more RAM or up the CPU. I'd go with the CPU as RAM can always be upgraded in the future when your friend has more money.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - £113.96 inc VAT

if he ditches the curent case he would also need to buy a power supply (the case comes with one).

overclock the E2180 to 3-3.2 Ghz and you could mildly overclock the 4850 in the ATI overdrive option. That would easily play cod4 at high settings.
