Hi Guys,

I’m planning on purchasing the parts for my first build either tonight or tomorrow.
But for peace of mind before purchasing I’m wondering if anyone here has actually fitted the Corsair H70 to the GB-UD4? Socket 1155 is meant to have the same template as 1156 so “hopefully” the H70 should fit ok. I’ve heard of people having to fit it diagonally and not use the back plate to make it flush to the mobo.

I work as a 3d artist using programs such as Zbrush, 3dsmax & Photoshop, so here's my spec:

Case: Antec 902
Power Supply: Corsair TX 750W
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600k 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155
Motherboard: Gigabyte P67A-UD4 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3
Cooler: Corsair Hydro H70
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Hard Drive 1: OCZ 60GB Vertex 2E SSD 2.5" SATA-II
Hard Drive 2: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache – OEM
Graphics Card: OcUK GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-S223 22x DVD±RW DL & RAM SATA
OS: Win 7 64 Bit

To increase longevity I'll look at SLI, more RAM and all SSD's when I have the need and money.
I would like to overclock the system if it's not too difficult to achieve; anything around 4.5ghz would be great!

Any advice, suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks!

Hi Guys,

Your min overclock with a Core i5/i7 Sandybridge will be between 4.4ghz @ 1.3v and 4.8ghz @ 1.35v dependant on luck with the chip as any higher volts are not recommended.

Thanks for the link stulid, it sounds pretty good although I think I'm gonna stick with the Corsair TX this time around.
I did contemplate dropping the RAM to the Vengeance CL9, although at only £20 more for CL8 it seems worth the extra money.

Do you guys use anti static equipment when building a machine?
I'm not sure I'll bother with a mat (but will avoid building in a carpeted room!), although a wrist strap seems worth it as a precautionary measure:
