Hi,

Any suggestions / improvements on the below welcome..

Going from a 10 year old Q6600, 4GB ram w/ Sapphire HD6950 graphics card!

Budget ~ £1500, am currently using 2 * 1080p monitors (a BENQ G2420HDBL and AOC e2343F), no plans to change so a 1060 probably more than sufficient.
Going with the full tower and m/b as I've got existing HDs to fit in there.

The 850W power supply may be over the top but that seems to be the base one.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
  • 1 x OcUK Tech Labs AMD Ryzen Pro Gaming PC Configurator = £1,552.82
    • Case:Zalman H1 Full-Tower - Black
    • Operating System:Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit DVD - OEM (MS-FQC-08929)
    • Build Time:Standard Build Systems - Dispatched within 7 working days
    • Motherboard:Gigabyte Aorus GA-AX370-Gaming 5 AMD X370 (Socket AM4) DDR4 ATX Motherboard
    • Processor:AMD Ryzen 5 Six Core 1600X 4.00GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail
    • CPU Cooler:be quiet! Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler
    • Memory:Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-21300C16 2666MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2A26
    • Power Supply:Super Flower Leadex II 850W 80 Plus Gold Modular Power Supply - Black
    • Solid State Drive 1:Samsung 250GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive (MZ-75E250B/EU)
    • Graphics Card:Asus GeForce GTX 1060 Dual OC 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

      Total: £1,566.92
      (includes shipping: £14.10)

      Cheers

Firstly change the ram option to 3000 mhz there is no price diffrence so you mite as well, Ryzen loves fast ram. Also would consider uping the ssd to 500gb and swapping it for a m2 drive.

850W is well OTT. You could do with a 450W PSU. I'm sure that if you speak to OCUK they'll let you save some money with a more appropriate PSU.

Don't bother with a M2 drive. Unless you do lots of writes - database work and such - you won't notice the difference.

Go with the R5 1600 and use the stock cooler ?

Swap the board for a B350 chipset. You can't SLI the GTX 1060 so little point going X370 unless there is something you need on the board. The Gigabyte B350 Gaming 3 is a good option.

As above drop the psu down to 450W/550W.

Thanks all.

The main reason for going with the X370 and full tower was the additional space and on-board SATA ports to accommodate the drives I already have

I'll look at alternatives - for the B350 board looks like I'd need to drop down to the non-Pro midi tower system.

The B350 board has 6 x SATA ports whereas the X370 has 8. If 6 isn't enough then of course stay with the X370 board.

You should be able to tweak the build if you speak to customer services i.e If you want the smaller psu and different board etc without having to change the tower.
