Hi there, been 3 years since my last build and its time for an overhaul. I game 90% of the time so im not really interested in encoding or video playback, had a quick look and came up with this:

Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 NCQ 400GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (£55.21) x 2(£110.42)

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (£150.39) (£150.39)

Seasonic M12 Modular 700W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply (£135.11) (£135.11)

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music 7.1 Soundcard - OEM (£49.34) (£49.34)

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)(£17.61) (£17.61)

EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS SuperClocked 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (320-P2-E815-AR)(£211.49) (£211.49)

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator DHX PC2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB)(£123.36) (£123.36)

Abit AW9D-MAX Intel 975X (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard(£129.24) (£129.24)

Case, opticals, fans etc. I have so its just the listed parts I need. Any comments appreciated as unfortunatly i havn't kept up with current affairs too well. My budget is about 900 - 950 after tax, so please chop and change if needed. Will the soundcard be worth the money for gaming (usually headset rather than 5.1 / 7.1)?

Also im in need of a new monitor, i want a 22" (or there abouts) widescreen tft, and have never owned a tft before (love my old 19" Imagequest Q995), budget on this is 250 - 300 quid.

I was looking at:

Samsung SM-226BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor

although again no idea if this is a worthwile investment for the next 3 years or so

(p.s. hoping this si in the right forum, seen specs in CAse Central but i dont need a chasis so doesnt seem right :) )

Thanks for the comments

haha, yeah sorry my post was lame. I had about 15 hours sleep in 5 days before that and posted that near midnight. Thanks for the replies so far.

I'm sorry to say that I have never overclocked a system before to any major degree (too much risk with the money available to me at the time) but now I am going to delve into it a bit more with this. I'm liking Paul_64s' spec there, and i'm assuming in theory at least there should be plenty of room for a performance boost?
Questions though:
The RAM seems a slower standard clock than the set I selected, will this make much of a difference, or are we assuming i bleed every last MHz from the kit?
I'm still wondering if anybody has any information on the screen i was looking at?
Is is worth getting Vista or better off sticking with XP Pro?

Thanks again

P.s. Unless i'm mistaken the "full stop" there identifies a shortened word, i.e. Etc. - Etcetera :P
