Is this OK? Or is it over specced? It's litereally going to be used for surfing and watching dvds/HD DVDs.

Thanks :)

The above spec is much better - more efficient and better quality. That board is nice too, and ideal for your needs. I might be tempted to change the case to something a bit nicer though. Depends on your taste mind.

well i dont get the point of a tower for media centre use tbh .. alwasy thought flat was more practical :)

my build is in my sig , the sont player i got is an older model ( ive not listed what ) but i prefer a tray to slot as its easier to remove if the drive fails

I agree it would be better in general, but for the required tasks 2GB will happily do the job. I have made a few HTPCs recently and found that 2GB works great and keeps the costs low, this is using Windows 7.

If the OP has the extra £27 on hand - an upgrade wouldn't be a bad idea. But I suggest spending the money on a better case or a 1TB would be a higher priority, possibly even a TV card.

Too right! 2 GB is fine for a HTPC even with Vista. Some extra HDD space is much more useful for TV or DVD rips.

If it is just for Blu Ray and the internet I am sorry to say but you would be better off with a PS3 and that is considerably cheaper.

Even better if you already have a decent PC to stream to it.
