Spec me £10k, fun but not too impractical

Are Renault making there cars out of cheese these days? 2 years for exhausts to be on way out? If you park it in the Channel maybe?

Are all 2.0 GT TDI Golfs post-July 06 the 170BHP versions or did they still do the 140BHP version as well?

This is the Car in question

edit: Disregard, DVLA site lists the numberplate as being the 145g/km which would make it the 140.

Stick to your original idea of hot hatches ;)
The new Mini Cooper Ss are coming down to £10k. Those have got to be worth a look, surely?

Looked at one approved used so far, Air Con wasn't standard until '09  will have a delve into the realms of auto trader.

(Apologies for double post)

Just put deposit down on:
- Renaultsport Clio 197
- 08 Plate (March 2008)
- 23k miles
- 3 months manufacturer warranty remaining + 12 months RAC Warranty
£8995

Pretty happy :D They weren't going to budge as it's quite a low price for it already, there was certainly not a lot around to beat it, and this was from a Renault Dealer as well. Only point of concern is that the CS3's looked like they'd need changing within 2011 so I'll need to shop around for new tyres at some stage.

Questions:
CS3 for the win or switch to something else for cheaper e.g. Goodyear F1 Assymetric? Where's best to buy tyres?
When I change insurance company how long do you have to prove your no claims (assuming you have to send something off) or are insurance companies clever and do it amongst themselves?

I'm in the same boat but with a budget of £13k at max, sub 40k

It's not easy and been looking at Golf GTi, too expensive for 2007 onwards, same with the 130i :(

Don't want French.

Seat Leon Cupra, missing refinements
Skoda Octavia VRs again, missing other refinements
MK1 Audi S3 - Too old
MK2 Audi S3 - Too expensive

Ford Focus ST-3, suppose to be pretty expensive to run and maintain.

Dealers mention about Diesal power, mmm always been a petrol man and only do 16 miles a day to work at the mo

Mikey your critiera with your tastes is unreasonable.

Either:

a) Compromise on 'refinements'
b) Drop the age requirement
c) Get more money

Unless I move away from main dealer, however you'll loose warranty etc.

Leaning towards another seat. Also ST3 maybe, but depends on the options.

Did find a Volvo s40 t5 in budget with R trim. But it won't be in the vag league.
