A friend has asked for a spec for a home PC.
It's main use will be downloading, internet browsing and a bit of football manager.

Looking for as fast desktop performance as possible for multi-tasking. Base unit needed only and no OS as they have a retail copy of vista (gonna upgrade to win7)

Any suggestions, I will put together one myself i think too.

Obviously you can save more money by providing DVD drives etc allowing more to be spent on the CPU etc (the graphics card will be overkill for a start so you could get a cheaper GPU and go for a faster CPU etc)

Greetings,

I was told that the 4870 ATI card would require at least a 450w. Not sure just going on what was suggested for myself.

Here is my spec:

I went for integrated graphics on the AMD 785G motherboard (4200) as you won't need any more for the tasks you described.

I included a fast 1TB HDD for your downloading needs, and a fast CPU and 4GB of RAM for your desktop needs. If you want to upgrade the spec at all, I suggest going for the X3 720BE processor.
