Spec me a 4k TV!

Hi gents,

I'll keep it short and sweet since i'm not very knowledgeable in the AV world. I'm looking for a 75" 4k TV for the wall at home, with a budget of around £4k. It'll be used for Netflix, sports and then general viewing in that order. I'm not too fussed with the super nitty gritty, as i'm conscious that perfect picture quality can't be obtained without going well above budget. Alternatively, buying the cables and having them all fitted behind the wall and buying a TV in a while is a possibility if there's something exceptional coming to the market soon (i've heard whispers of things regarding OLED, etc).

Any help would be appreciated

The only 75 I can see for that money is the hisense one. They then make a jump to around 4 grand.

Up the budget or drop to 65". You won't get a decent 75" for 2.5k

Get an OK 65 or something cheaper and invest in a projector and screen

I was looking at the Samsung 6 Series (UE75JU6400K) which can be had for within the budget, would this panel be a bad option? It seems a lot of the newer and £4k+ panels have HDR, is that something that makes a big difference or is it a minor thing?

Thanks for the recommendation mate, although i'd be quite unsure before adding an extra thousand for a smaller panel, even though i'm sure the quality on that is excellent.

If your watching constant 4K then yeah go for 75" but If your also watching skyhd and stuff like that, the 75" is going show all those little processing and upscaling nastys, especially a lower spec TV that's not going to have the processer of the top spec tv to try and upscale. also that size LCD for that price is also not going to have the best screen ie blooming, bright edges, uneaven backlighting , DSE and banding. Just my 2p but I would definitely consider the 65" OLED.

for that money and the lack of 4k I would go for an OLED too.

OLED HD is supposed to be pretty amazing I can imagine 4k OLED being awesome over LCD TV 4k.

I have the 48inch version of the JU6400. PQ is fine for me. It's a nice telly. Some of the youtube 4K vids looks stunning on it. You need to demo it for yourself really. I think the idea of a smaller TV and a projector is a great one. What is your viewing distance?

Alright gents, thanks so much for the advice so far. Taking it into consideration, i've spoken with (overruled) the missus and the budget is now £4k or thereabouts.

Eager to hear your latest recommendations, as it seems a lot more panels are within range now. I've spotted the Sony Bravia XD85 (http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/televisions/xd8505-series) and X85C (http://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/televisions/x8500c-series). Oddly enough, both of these are 75" and exactly the same price...except the XD85 seems to have a lot more in the way of features like HDR. Surely there should be a price difference?

Around 8 feet viewing distance.

If your sitting 8ft away I would definitely go for the 65" OLED
