Spec me a 5 door diesel car :(

it also doesn't make much financial sense to buy a diesel to save a few £s and then pay £500 pa for a warranty

I cannot think of many diesels I'd be happy to run WITHOUT a warranty, to be honest.

- the budget is also a bit tight for an ST TDCi. At this price point, it won't be long before it exceeds 100k in which case goodbye warranty.

To be fair I've not checked the market lately but surely a 6-7 year old Mondeo isnt more than £6k?!

I have an 02 golf tdi. It's the most reliable car I've had so far, so not sure what the problem is with diesels.

(I've probably jinxed it now, haven't I)

My money would go on a Leon FR.
However, the Mondeo is bigger. Depends how much space you need really.

But I will say that the VAG PD lump is very reliable.
