Right i don't seem to get many replies to this question my kits is coming next week phenom 955,giga ud5, i need a very good cpu cooler for about £40 that allows front to back airflow and DOES NOT fould the first dimm slot...

I was using a zalman cnps9700 on my ud5p for about 6 months and it was fine. plenty of space for dimms, caps, the lot.

EDIT: I wouldn't say it's a *very* good cooler, but it did the job well enough.

The retention clip needs fed between the heatpipes to mount it properly, but that's not exactly tricky.

The h50-1 fits as well.

seems they don't stock the cnps9700 (well i can't find it anyway)
h50 is a no no for me even tho i know it's a sealed unit i just still don't like the idea of water near my rig lol.

Any other suggestions

i use the original version of this and it keeps my q6600 @ 3.3 under 50 degrees even under the heaviest of loads and as it has the fan built into the middle it doesn't get in the way of the memory slots in my ip35 pro and it's a penny under your £40 budget :) so it should fit the bill nicely.

just checked the starting height of the fins and they start above my corsair dominator (fairly tall sinks on them) so even if the slots are very close to the cpu socket you shoud be okay as long as the memory is in first.
