Hi,

I want to start taking up photography for the summer for a hobby, mostly so I can go on walks and stuff and just take some nice photos.

I am looking for a camera, I don't currently own a digital camera (I think - somwhere in the house is an OLD standard film camera) so I figured I would ask here for advice :D

I not really sure what I "need" since I haven't really used one much before, but I suppose the main thing is that it MUST take nice pictures. What would be ideal is simple to use to begin with, but some features that are a little more advanced later on.

Ideally, a USB interface (to plug in to my PC obviously) and upload the photos would be excellent. Around 100 or so in terms of how much I want to pay (I don't want to buy a 300 pounds camera and turn out to not really like the hobby for example!)

Oh yeah, and one last thing. Obviously since I will be out and about it needs to be able to make batteries last a little (obviously I can carry some spare but still, it won't really do for it to take 4 shots and then the batteries fall over). Also one with cheapest memory would be good (the memory cards or whatever you put in it).

Anyone have any suggestions O.o

Perhaps a tripod, and a good book to read up on all the stuff.

Other than that, a bag etc, but to literally go out shooting, memory/camera/batteries is enough!

The S5700 looks good so i would say get that too, I have just got the S9600 and I'm pretty pleased with it so far considering I'm a noob.
