Ok time for an upgrade. I have £200 buget, my current system is

Q6600
DS3
G.skill 4.4.3.5
Hiper 580w
7800GTX
Cooler Master ATC-410 SX1

Was thinking about this card. 9800gtx

Not going to be using dx10, not yet anyway.

1680*1050. With regards to the 8800 its more exspensive and does worse in a majority on benchs, although I could be wrong.

If you are getting a decent graphics card i would get a new psu at the same time.

The Hiper 580W Type R are too well know for blowing up!

I second the 8800GTS 512mb. Can be had for under £140 on this week only.

I'd personally get something cheap... 8800GT/9600GT/3850 then upgrade when the new generation of cards comes out.

The new ATI 4xxx series are reported to be far faster than what is out currently.

Whether or not it is "true" next gen or not, if it is 40 percent (or more) faster - its good enough.

I haven't looked enough at the cards coming out to see the tech they are using, so I can't comment on if they are truly next gen - but I have seen various figures banded about showing they are most certainly going to be substaintially faster than what is out at the moment.

ATi's will sort of be next gen as they'll support DX10.1 same as the HD3000's not sur ewhen Nvidia will realease DX10.1 cards, way things are going their new cards could be yet another change of the 8800series

As above (the 512MB version...)

It's the same card as the 9800gtx, except it's not clocked as high (which you can do anyway...) and has a single sli connector, so you can't tri sli... (as if it's worth the money anyway...)
